Exactly what it sounds like, an online lounge for any or all community members to drop into and chat about the “Topic of the Day.” That topic can range from something absurd-”Should guys wear thongs at Huntington Beach?”-to the political-”What should the Democrat Party represent?” -to the cerebral-”Has Buddhism been co-opted by the West?” Sometimes Icebreaker Lounge conversations will be hosted by experts in a variety of fields from health, or the arts, or x-sports, or music.

At The Icebreaker Lounge you’ll see a photo of fellow members when they participate in the conversation.

There’s no bouncer at The Icebreaker Lounge door to enforce a starlet-style exclusivity policy, but to be noticed you’ve got to bring your brain, your ideas, your sense of humor and your flirtysomething main photo. Remember… it’s easier to be two, when you’re you.

What’s a “Friend’s Write-up”?
Ever had a difficult time describing yourself in essay questions for online dating sites or job applications? Do your friends tell you that you should think more highly of yourself than you do? And do you have friends you think deserve great men or women in their lives?

Friends’ Write-ups allow friends to describe you as they see you, with all the insight friendship brings. These Write-Ups bring additional depth and variety to your profile. They are like meeting someone you think is babe-alicious at a concert, or while snowboarding, or browsing through a bookstore-and having your friend talk you up to that person… cause you, yourself, can’t get past the stammering phase. Sounds jake, right?

How do I get a “Friend’s Write-up”?
Double click the “Invite a Friend’s Write-up,” fill in the e-mail address of a friend. Pen a “Friend’s Write-up” about them, and request one about you. As in the Après-Date Review, both of you will have a choice as to whether to make the “insights” public, or keep them private.

What is the “Talk to Me” button?
flirtysomething members can instantly initiate private chat by clicking on the “Talk to Me” button located on an individual’s profile. If both members are online, they’ll find themselves in their own private chat room.

What’s an Online Date?
Did you meet in the Ice Breaker Lounge and want to get to know each other more fully prior to talking in the geographic world? Date online at Flirty Something.

How do I initiate an Online Date?
Met someone, like someone, ready to set an Online Date? Simply click on the “set a date” button on their profile, fill in a date and time you’d like to meet them. Your date will either accept, request a different meeting time, or decline your invitation. If they accept, the date will automatically be tracked in your Date Calendar.

Where do I go for my Online Date?
Sign-In and click on My DatePlace. When your date signs in online a “talk back” button on your DatePlace will activate and a chat space will pop up.

What’s the difference between an Online Date and giving another member my e-mail?
As in the off-line world, you’re setting aside time to spend with each other rather than simply bumping into each other at flirtysomething.

What’s My Date Calendar
Situated on your “My DatePlace” page, your date calendar tracks online dates you’ve made with flirtysomething members and reminds you to get to them on time.

What’s an Après-Date Review?
The Après-Date Review serves as flirtysomething’s dual-purpose post-date follow up. First, they serve as a “check-in” between the two dating members, a post-date e-mail “the morning after.” The Après-Date Review also provides other community members with the lowdown on whether a profile is accurate or note.

How does the Après-Date Review system work?

1. To get started, click on the File Après-Date Review button on the person’s profile who you dated. A prompt will walk you through the steps, telling your date that you’d like to fill out an Après-Date Review on them, and inviting them to fill one out on you.
   
2. Prompts will walk you through filling out of an Après-Date Review form. Once your Après-Date Review is completed, flirtysomething will e-mail your date an invitation to (a) read your review (b) to write their own review of you.
   
3. flirtysomething will hold your Après-Date Review in an “escrow” account until your date has filed a corresponding note. Only after both parties have completed Après-Date Reviews, will the escrow account release the notes to both you and your date so you can each read them.
   
4. You can decide whether you want the personal note and profile accuracy reviews to remain “Private” or go “Public.” Only if both daters want the Après-Date to go public will they.
   

The Après-Date Review sounds complicated, what does it really do for me?
It’s much less complicated than it sounds. Honest. And with the Après-Date Review, you gain so much because other on the site know that you are being honest.

Do I have to post the results of an Après-Date Review with my profile?
No. The only material presented on your Profile page is information you have “okayed” through toggle buttons. Public or Private-it’s your choice, whatever you want.

How do I submit an Après-Date Review?
Click the “File an Après-Date Review” on the pertinent Profile page and fill out the easy-to-follow prompts.

An ex-date wrote a malicious Après-Date Review just because I politely declined to see him again.

Here’s the deal:

1. Nothing gets added or posted to your profile without your permission.
   
2. If you believe an Après-Date Review or any other communication on this site to be malicious, forward it to us. In addition to foul and/or otherwise offensive language, flirtysomething reserves the right to remove any intimate details having to do with a person’s sexual behavior. If members continue cruel behavior, they will be removed from the site. Starting a new relationship is challenging and scary, lets be good to each other or figure out why we’re so angry and move on.
   

What’s “My DatePlace?”
To each member, their own room. One, well-designed page which organizes your online date schedule, date stories, profile changes, and photographs. “My DatePlace” is your own personal flirtysomething zone where you can oversee and change your profile, keep track of flirtysomething dates, meet your dates, and invite friends to provide a “Friend’s Write-up” - sharing the you that they know with others.

Why are links to profiles on other dating sites included?
To provide flirtysomething members with as comprehensive perspective of an individual as possible.
